Strategic Sourcing Fuel Manager - SAS

About the position

We welcome you into an international and independent environment where you as our new Fuel Manager, together with your colleagues, are responsible for all supply of fuel to the entire SAS. SAS’s fuel costs account for approximately 20- 25% of our total costs. Our unit is a specialized and independent team who work cross-functionally within the SAS organization.

You will be a key player in our pursuit to become an industry leader in terms of sustainability, working with development and implementation of the use of biofuels. Your role as a Fuel Manager will be a combination of strategic and operational parts with many internal and external contacts where you are responsible for about 150 supplier agreements annually. Fuel supply is a prioritized area for us, and we are now expanding our resources in that area with this appointment, which is part of our important work in areas such as sustainability and the increased legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsibility for about 150 supplier agreements annually
  • Continuous, pro-active work with supplier development of strategic suppliers
  • Continuously secure and optimize the fuel supply to the hubs (ARN / OSL / CPH) via our own oil companies
  • Independently conduct tenders through the whole procurement process from data analysis to strategically important negotiations
  • Develop and secure strategies together with Supply Chain
  • Contribute to SAS’s strategically important fuel infrastructure projects in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, conducted through collaboration with authorities and oil companies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations regarding compulsory obligation storage for aviation fuel
  • Responsibility for alliance purchases within Star Alliance regarding aviation fuel and IATA collaboration
  • Responsible for developing effective procedures and systems for refueling
  • Represent Fuel Management in the Fuel Committee were hedging of Fuel is managed

The position is located at our head office in Stockholm, and you report to Head of Fuel Management

About you

To be as successful as we want you to be, we welcome your previous experience within these areas:

  • Several years of experience in strategic purchasing and strategy development from the oil or energy sector
  • Experience in supply chain and logistics issues
  • Experience of conducting large and complex procurements in an international context

Beside your proven track record, we also know that you possess excellent skills in:

  • Purchasing and sourcing costs
  • Negotiation techniques, preferably from an international environment.
  • Understanding of the law within purchasing and agreements.
  • Understanding of financial instruments.
  • Academic background in, for example, economic and/or engineering, specialization purchasing / supply chain is an advantage. Alternatively, other academic education that is relevant to the position.
  • Good knowledge of English, speech, and writing
